In this article we discussed about the new programme launched by IGNOU under School of Science (SOS) in the field of Geoinformatics.

Recently IGNOU has launched a new programme MSc in Geoinformatics (MSCGI) from the July 2023 Session. Before this programme IGNOU has launched Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGI) in previous session i.e January 2023 Session. before that IGNOU already run a certificate programme in Geoinformatics, Post Graduate Certificate in Geoinformatics (PGCGI). These programmes are run under School of Science (SOS).

Now let us discussed some information about MSc In Geoinformatics (MSCGI)

Eligibility – Graduates in Science/ Engineering/ Architecture/ Planning/ Computer Applications/ It or MA Geography

Duration – 2 Years [Minimum] & 4 Years [Maximum]

Fees – Rs 15,700/- per year

In this programme exist and lateral entry options are also available. It means if any students drops this programme after 6 months they’ll get Post Graduate Certificate in Geoinformatics (PGCGI) degree and if drops after 1 year they’ll get Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGI) degree and after completion of 2 years without dropping they’ll get MSc in Geoinformatics (MSCGI) degree. These are the exist options available in this programme. And in the same manner lateral entry options are available. If any students completed their Post Graduate Certificate in Geoinformatics (PGCGI) or Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGI) they and also enroll in this programme. If any student completed Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGI) they can enroll in MSc in Geoinformatics (MSCGI) programme and they have to complete only 1 year after Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics (PGDGI) and complete MSc in Geoinformatics (MSCGI).
