1. Answer each of the following questions in around 1000 words 2 x 15 marks
a. Define an occupational hazard. Enumerate types of occupational hazards at workplace and explain them with suitable examples (atleast two examples). Briefly explain the steps in assessment of hazards at workplace.
b. Discuss the salient features of Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PMJAY). Analyse its significance in reducing out-of-pocket expenditures in the Indian Healthcare system.
2. Read the following case study carefully. Answer in 500-700 words each. 10 marks
Kumari, a 29-year-old pregnant woman living in a rural village in Sri Lanka, has access to free antenatal checkups at a government hospital within 10 km. She also receives home visits from the Public Health Midwife and gets free vaccinations. However, when her father was diagnosed with heart disease, he had to travel to a tertiary hospital in the capital, incurring significant out-of-pocket expenses.
Questions:
a) Evaluate how Sri Lanka’s health system promotes equity in healthcare access.
b) Identify few strength and one limitations of the Sri Lankan healthcare financing model based on Kumari’s situation.

f. Define out of pocket expenditure and catastrophic out of pocket expenditure on healthcare. Enumerate its ill effects.
